ISKCON Temple in KanpurIt took years for His Grace Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the founder Acharya of ISKCON, the management of ISKCON Temple Kanpur or Sri Sri Radha Madhav Temple and the devotees to bring the temple to this stage. In 2005, a row house was taken on rent to start an ISKCON centre in Kanpur under the guidance of Swami Prabhupada. In the same year the centre acquired a land of five acres which was donated by Mrs. Bina Bhatnagar. Utsav murtis of Lord Madhav and Radhaji were brought here in 2007. A few devotees were also moved here. They really worked hard for the centre. Gradually with the help of wellwishers, the ISKCON Centre in Kanpur had acquired nearly 12 acres of land. In 2009, on the day of Vasant Panchami, idols of Lord Madhav and Radhaji were installed and worshipped.
The temple opens early in the morning at 4:30 am and closes at 8:30 pm in the evening. There is a break for darshan of Lord from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. There is a goshala in the temple which consists of many desi cows. The goshala is very well maintained and cows here are very well taken care of. The milk from the goshala is utilized for the bhog and abhishek of Lord.
There is also a restaurant situated in the premises of the temple. It would be of very much use for the visitors and devotees as the temple is situated slightly away from the city. Right now laddoos, a variety of namkeen items and fruit juices are available here. All these items are prepared in the temple premises only.
There is also a gift shop available within the centre which sells devotional gift items. Religious and spiritual books, CDs and videos of devotional songs, pravachans and bhajans are available here.
